The end of the school year is characterized by a long summer break for students at all levels of education from elementary schools to universities. This can be a challenge to a working parent with elementary school kids and requires someone to care and supervise these kids. A summer nanny is the best option putting in mind that the nanny will only care for the kids for a short summer season. You will also benefit because you can concentrate on your work during the day without the worries of how you will pick up your kids from school and other hustles and bustles associated with it.
Most of the summer nannies are female college students pursuing education, psychology and other humanity majors at various colleges and universities. A good place to start looking for a summer care giver is the university or colleges themselves. You can begin by posting your ad on jobs notice board preferably at student center or the designated area but you have to talk to the school officials about such actions. Most colleges have job posting website which can be of help.
You will get many responses since these young adults want extra cash for books and personal use so it’s a good idea to include such things as “has experience in child care” or any other phrase in your ad. You can do interviews by phone but be sure to check what to look for in my while interviewing in my earlier post Here.
The other alternative is to use services of agencies such as Sitter City who offer a 7 day free trial and have pre-qualified nannies who have been background checked and have experiences which will in turn saves you a lot of work and hustles of interviewing young adults.
